About the Ministry
The Episcopal Diocese of Ohio consists of the 48 counties of northern Ohio, covering roughly 15,000 square miles and home to 77 congregations. Jolly is the 12th bishop of the diocese, who was ordained and consecrated as bishop in April 2023. The ministry of the executive assistant is that of support for the bishop and the bishop’s office to help advance the mission and vision of the diocese.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has significant experience in a high-level executive support role, impressive attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and hospitality skills. They have demonstrated experience holding the highest level of confidentiality and serving as a strategic thinker, planner, and partner in a complex, fast-paced environment. They maintain excellent personal organizational systems and can effectively apply and/or pivot approaches when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions of the role include:
High-level strategy and coordination with the bishop, including management of the complex calendar.
Partnership integration between the bishop and the canon to the ordinary.
Travel management, including but not limited to congregational visits, general travel in the diocese, and diocesan or national church business.
Front office management of all incoming communication and requests (calls, emails, etc.), including prioritization of escalation and timing.
Qualifications
A candidate should have
A high school diploma or GED, with post-secondary education preferred
Five or more years of experience in a high-level administrative role
A proven ability to develop systems to manage high-volume, complex problems
Advanced communications skills, including written, spoken, and interpersonal
